Ivory Coast lashes out at Mali’s ‘blackmail’ by detained troops
Ivory Coast on Wednesday accused Mali of “blackmailing” the 46 Ivorian soldiers who have been detained by Bamako and called on West African leaders to discuss the crisis as soon as possible.Mali’s ruling junta last week linked the release of troops to the extradition of Malians living in Côte d’Ivoire, a condition that amounts to “unacceptable blackmail”, the government’s National Security Council said in a statement.
